Labors Of Love

Atlanta, GA
August 1 & 2, 2020
introducing
"Transformation"

You are going to be able to watch this
design come to life.
Above is the original pen and in sketch.

Here you see how I start thinking about color.
I typically lay a sheet of vellum over
the sketch or as here, the canvas....
then have fun with my Prisma pencils.
I've painted a little copper on the wings here.
Plan to sparkle this one up with copper mesh.

Possibilities...

I'm teaching these 'Little Bits of String'
in Orlando.
The possibilities are endless!
Colors of thread, types of thread,
different colored canvas to stitch upon
... and we can't forget beads!
I could go on forever ...

Little Bits...

Sometimes a girl just has to play.
Revisiting the way I would play with string ...
I've come to the conclusion that I have an
oddly put together brain ...
no kidding, right?!?!

Of course, you benefit in the play of my cosmic brain.

Introducing my latest exercise
"Little Bits of String"

akimberlydesign.blogspot.com
Three in a row
or
single on their own canvas.
Fun, quick, about 2.5"sq designs.
I'll be teaching these as pop up workshops for
The Black Sheep
in Orlando.
Classes will be held on
the second Saturday of each month
or
the last Wednesday.

or click the link for details.

I stitched these in Soie Perlee
but you can use any fine single strand
thread of a similar size.
Your choice in colors and canvas!
They can become ornaments or bits of
contemporary art framed up with a wide mat.

I just knew this piece was going to be magical!
My canvas was full of fairy dust!

Just enough shimmer!
I'd been given a spool of Micro Ice Chenille
sometime ago ... this was the perfect piece
for it to play on.
Thank you Kreinik Mfg.
for all the beautiful threads you provide
me to paint with!

This is an older design of mine,
from my charted work days.
I don't even have a name for it.
Originally stitched all in one color/one thread.
Very lacy looking that way.
I'm spending this afternoon re charting
as I can't find the original file.
The above is worked completely in Soie Perlee!
Thank you to Access Commodities for another
favorite thread of mine!
