New Art for the New Year...
My First Mandala

Not truly my first as I love to do circular designs but this was the first time the intention was there to call it a Mandala.  Many of my needle work designs revolve around a center starting point but not to many end up with a circular border.  In needle work...circular is a bear to have finished.  Framers will develop that thinking crease between their eyebrows and you'll develop one when you hear how much a finisher would charge to turn it into a pillow.  To avoid that...I give most of my designs square or rectangular perimeters.  Avoiding botox at all cost!
So...let me know what you think.  I enjoyed this exercise, thinking I would like to create more of them in the future.

  1. Hi Kimberly! I think it's just beautiful! Your design is so flowing and the colors you chose are just perfect! I love it! Hugs, Paulette xoxo

  2. It's a beautiful design Kimberly. I don't understand why it would cost so much to make it into a pillow--but I guess I don't know enough about needlework to understand the complexity. Pillows are so easy to make when working with regular fabric.

  3. Doing it yourself, price isn't a issue. Having a finisher ... another story altogether. Circular designs need to be boxed...and boxed is more. I work in a needle work shop, most customers do not do their own finishing.
